Gender, Science and the Economy:
Exploring Women’s Participation in Technology Transfer, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (TIE) Conference
We are pleased to announce that the ‘Gender, Science and the Economy: Exploring Women’s Participation in Technology Transfer, Incubation and Entrepreneurship (TIE)’ Conference will be next 11-13 June 2008 in Barcelona.
This conference explores transformation of gender relations at the interface among science, technology and economy. The event is the culmination of the European Union (EU) Science and Society project on Women in Innovation, Science and Technology (WIST) focusing on the TIE professions. The conference will place the EU experiences in a global context.
Gender issues in the interface professions between science and the economy are increasingly salient to achieve the European objectives of maximising the utilization of human capital for building the Knowledge Society. Transfer, incubation and entrepreneurship (TIE) fields have grown in importance and expanded in recent years, as science has become an increasingly significant pillar of knowledge-based economies. Gender relations within TIE organizations are still largely unexplored, with a few notable exceptions.
