CALL FOR ABSTRATS
Conference themes:
We call for papers to address the challenges and opportunities at the interface between gender, science and the economy based on research, policy analyses and personal experiences. The conference includes plenary sessions with keynote addresses and parallel sessions for presentation of refereed papers. Papers should address the following themes:
- Comparative analyses (cross-sectoral, cross-national, cross-disciplinary) of the participation and advancement of women in traditional and emerging science related professions.
- Women and men’s position in the TIE professions: is it a matter of culture, social structure or individual agency?
- New hybrid occupations at the intersection of science and business, law, public policy, media, etc. Work/ life balance in traditional and emerging science related professions.
Important deadlines
Submission of abstracts: 15 April 2008 (Abstracts of max. 750 words)
Submitted to tie.conference@uta.fi.
They must clearly indicate the focus and potential impact of the proposed paper. Papers are encouraged that link state-of-the-art thinking and research with a practical perspective, including co-authored works with scientists and technologists or managers.
Notification of acceptance: 30 April 2008.
Submission of full papers: 1 June 2008.
Selected papers may be invited for consideration in a special journal issue and/ or edited book.
